The proper way to use an elliptical machine
A lot of people just step on the elliptical, but actually stepping on the elliptical incorrectly can hurt your knees.
- Grab the fixed handles with both hands and step on the footrests with both feet again.
- Grab the handle with both hands to hold your upper body in place and try not to rock from side to side.
- Tuck in your stomach and straighten your back, keep your knees in the same direction as your toes, exhale and press your weight into your heels and step forward.
Common error
- The knees buckle in and the hips are not flexible enough. You can stretch your hip joints with the Frog Plank activity.
- Sore knees, stretching and massaging the upper calf muscles.
- I can't tighten my belly, I can't feel my hips. Do planks ahead of time to activate the core.
